Analysis Of The Book The Breakfast Club - 812 Words
Madison Mauro Period 7/APPsychology Mrs. Carter 29 February 2016 The Breakfast Club was a movie delineating the interactions of five high school students from differing backgrounds encountering the obstacle of a Saturday detention. These five students were composed of a princess, a brain, an outcast, a jock, and most pertinent to this paper, the rebel, John Bender. John Bender is depicted within this movie as a careless and hostile character with some authority issues. An impulsive and uncooperative individual, Bender, in the detention for pulling the fire alarm, serves as a sharp juxtaposition to the other characters, often challenging the others on their perspectives. This contrast could perhaps be attributed to his home life, which is different from his four detention counterparts. Portrayed initially as a stereotypic character in that he is represented as a criminal and a bad boy ââ¬Å"too cool for school,â⬠Bender is shown to truly be a vulnerable character suffering from tensions in his home life. Apparent in the scene in which Bender reenacts an incident from home, Bender comes from a broken home in which physical and emotional abuse occurs. Bender, incredibly rebellious with insecure attachments, objectives women as well as resents anybody who has a more stable home life than him. These qualities most likely stem from his characterization of his father as an abusive alcoholic who once burned a cigar on Johnââ¬â¢s arm because he accidentally spilled paint. Nolen cheese Free Essays
The Nolan Cheese advertisement targets audience of all ages and both genders. The ad grabs the audienceââ¬â¢s attention with lighthearted music, melodramatic music, and upbeat, youthful music. It shows an endearing mouse enjoying a piece of cheese happily, with no care in the world because the cheese is from the Nolan brand. We will write a custom essay sample on Nolen cheese or any similar topic only for you Order Now Unexpectedly, a tragic event takes place that was unforeseeable by the mouse. Some of us would laugh, others would feel sad but no matter the emotion, the fact of he matter is that the ad is able to get a reaction out of its audience. Our attention is held captive by our not knowing what the fate of the mouse is. At this point in time, the audience is unsure of what direction the advertisement is going. The first thing that really grabs the audienceââ¬â¢s attention is the mouse. People have mice for pets, and the entertainment industry has made millions from movies such as Stuart Little where a mouse lives as a functional member of a human family, and Ratatouille, where a mouse plays a big part in a French chefs culinary skills. The epitome of the mouse character is undoubtedly Mackey Mouse. A major icon as a part of Walt Disneyââ¬â¢s franchise, people from all across the world are able to recognize Mackey Mouse. Children grow up singing and dancing with Mackey, they learn their Abs with Mackey , and they dream of one day visiting Disney World to meet Mackey Mouse. Whenever there is a mouse, it would be difficult for the general population to not think of Mackey Mouse, the father of all mice. The advertisement uses the endearing mouse to target the animal lover in us. We love our pets, we treat our pets eke family and upon seeing the mouse in the commercial, we automatically care for and are invested in the mouseââ¬â¢s fate ââ¬â or at least enough to watch the entire commercial. The second grabbing point that kept us focused on the ad was the music. Music can often times can be more expressive, more telling than the spoken word. Music is often used to set the tone, mood, and ambiance of a scene before anything else is brought into the scene. When we hear soft, slow music, we feel relaxed and open. When we hear fast, abrupt and loud noises, we feel anxious and anticipatory. The first song, ââ¬Å"On Top of the Worldâ⬠is by the band Imagine Dragon, It is a cheerful, lighthearted and fun song. The second is ââ¬Å"The Doorsâ⬠sung by The End. This song conveys a feeling of hopelessness, sorrow, and bitterness. For every person that is able to immediately identify with positive feelings of happiness, playfulness and love, there are two more people who are more able to identify and find comfort in the negative feelings of hopelessness and sorrow. Our society is built on chasing happiness, chasing what it is or who it is that makes us happy. This makes us feel the same hopelessness and sorrow for the mouse. If we can identify with someone else, we immediately feel closer to them. The commercial ends with the song ââ¬Å"Eye of the Tigerâ⬠by the Survivor. This is a classic and it is full of positive energy, encouragement, strength and the ability to persevere through anything and everything. The third and most important aspect of the Nolan Cheese advertisement is that the commercial takes us through a mini story, from blissfully happy, to tragedy, then to the resolution. The beginning sets the tone of a perfectly content mouse, enjoying his cheese, being happy. We see that things donââ¬â¢t stay happy for long because tragedy is introduced when the screen turns black and a loud clamp noise is heard while we are left to speculate whether or not our friendly mouse was caught in the trap or not. We are in suspense and we are unsure. The commercial can go in any direction at this point. Our thoughts run from the mouse being caught in the trap and he is gone forever, or our friendly mouse was able to escape, or the clamp was not a trap at all. Curiosity killed the cat and curiosity will keep us focused on the ad to see what happens next. The screen then appears to show our mouse laying in the trap, breathing heavily, with ââ¬Å"The Doorâ⬠playing as the background music. From what we see to what we hear at this point, we feel sad and we feel sorry for our mouse. It looks like our mouse has been caught in the trap and his fate has been decided. Suddenly, ââ¬Å"Eye of the Tigerâ⬠begins to play and our mouse starts doing bench presses using the trap parts. The background music is encouraging, it is strong and it is rueful, which is the exact image that we see as our mouse not only is not caught in the trap, but is using the trap to his advantage. This is unrealistic and certainly would not happen in real life, but the advertisement made it possible in their world. The mouse was able to persevere and it is our human nature to love a good comeback story. We are able to laugh, be Joyful, and be in awe of the mighty mouse who was able to overcome such a obstacle. The Nolan Cheese commercial is able to draw in an audience from across the board because it targeted the human in us. We all have had tragedy happen and we all know what it is like to be unsure of ourselves, be unsure for others, and not know what will happen next. We know the feeling of suspense and we know it is not a comfortable feeling. In addition, we also know the feeling of persevering, the feeling of being able to overcome obstacles in our life, and being strong enough to turn it into our advantage, Just like our mouse did in the commercial. It keepsake audience focused and watch all details of the ad, without taking our eyes away from the scene. It gives the audience a happy feeling, a sad feeling, and a resolution, problem solved feeling. In the end the mouse is alive and still eating Nolan cheese, which one can argue is the only reason why the mouse was able to bench press the trap. Upon seeing the Nolan Cheese brand in the supermarket, the audience will immediately think to the mouse, the trouble, the perseverance, the eventual strength and happiness, and indirectly will feel like we will be able to have the same kind of ending if we buy Nolan Cheese because as aforementioned, we, as a society, Just want to be happy like our mouse. Improvising On ââ∠The Midwifery Practicesâââ¬Ã Through Integrating MDGs
Question: Essay: Critique of the Sustainable Development Goals 1 or 2: Midwives role in providing economic, environmental and social support. How do these SDGs translate from the Millennium Development Goals 4 5? Think about your answer in relation to developed and developing countries, differentiating between which Goals relate to each countries. Answer: Abstract This paper tries to emphasize strongly on this point while considering midwifery practice and research in context to the social support stigma. Lets start with walking down the lanes of history to learn about childbirth and institutionalization. This would be followed by a discussion process that would try to bring out the goals of MDG and SDGs in context to midwifery - social support during the time of pregnancy and child birth. The paper would also try to provide light on the social support being provided to women during the period of antenatal care. This would be followed by a research work thesis that would try to recognize the importance of women in regards to social support and how the midwives can effectively meet these needs. Going through survey works carried out by experts and indulging their own selves into research works, midwives would be able to determine the requirements and needs of women during the critical scenario. A more holistic approach needs to be taken to trea t women during time of pregnancy. It is necessary to give importance to the opinion of conceived women or the newly-became moms. Caring approach for every woman would definitely differ in terms of their needs and requirement while focusing on their opinion. Midwives need to focus strongly on this issue. And only then can they be able to facilitate the best restoration process in terms of autonomy, fulfillment and dignity for a woman.Having support is one thing; being satisfied with it is another. 1. The introduction of a new dawn can the world be a better place to live The new millennium witnessed signing of the Millennium Declaration. It was conducted on the month of September, 2000, when leaders from 189 countries signed the declaration at the headquarters of United Nations (Beeman Bhattacharyya, 1978). The declaration comprised of a set of 8 measurable goals ranging from controlling extreme poverty, hunger to reducing child mortality and promoting gender equality, the deadline being targeted at 2015. This declaration is often termed as Millennium Development Goal (MDG). The concept was successful reaching the goals and meeting them with one global language that ensures realistic approach and easy communication with an authentic monitoring and measurement system. Although the concept and measures were drastic, it failed to achieve fully even results in every sector. The unevenness caused a point of concern. Moreover, the tenure for the MDG has an expiry date by the year of 2015 (Cott, 1992). Necessary steps would have to be taken to dissolve the discrepancy. On June 2012, the United Nations organized a conference on sustainable development in Rio De Janeiro. This initiative tried to form a new set of goals for sustainable development process that would ensure that the MDG remains stable post the expiry date along with inclusion of some additional improvement. The ultimate point is: never lose on the momentum that got generated through the introduction of MDG. Its a great initiative for the betterment of the society (Evans Mitchell, 2014). Joining hands to make the globe a better place to sustain living is what matters truly. Respect the idea and proceed with a positive attitude. 1.a) Chances of achieving SDGs 1 and 2 while integrating them with MDG 4 and 5 SDG 1 2 are more or less associated with one another and deals with dissolving poverty and hunger, while achieving food security, improved nutrition, and promoting a sustainable agricultural pattern. Yes, initiatives have started to make these two goals a success. More importantly, MDGs 4 and 5 that deals with reducing child mortality and improving maternal health have been perfect merged with the SDG 1 and 2. Its quite an obvious scenario; proper nutrition and reduced food deficiency would definitely help maternal health and improvise on child mortality rate. In places like Bolivia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Colombia, Vietnam, Samoa, Peru, Guatemala, Cote D Ivory, Honduras, Palestine, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Peru, Philippines, Mozambique, Paraguay, and El Salvador work is progressing at a steady rate (Gharaibeh, Oweis, Hamad, 2010). 1.b) Funding and what is the present scenario This is the most important question. How would the goals be funded? According to rough calculations, the cost to eradicate extreme poverty and social safety would be somewhere around $66bn annually. The cost would also cover creation of funded and valued models of care where women and midwives would work in partnership mostly at the primary care level. The process is still at its initial stage. Nothing has been finalized yet. The latest report suggests that the major funding would be carried out via public finance and aid. They would be the arsenal to support and give shape to SDGs (Lucke Heinze, 2015). However, supporting hands from private sector through tax reformation is also thought to be valuable in this context. The SDG Funding policy is trying to act as a necessary connection point to transform MDGs to SDGs through concrete level of experiences to highlight different ways to achieve sustainable and inclusive world post the year of 2015. 2. A walk down the lane situation of pregnant women pre and post 18th century Prior to the 19th century or better to say, late 19th century, the female community were only attached the area of childbirth. Gelis, in his book History of Childbirth, tried to define pregnancy as a collective experience where relatives, friends, and neighbors involved used to be always females (Magill-Cuerden, 2006). For village community, calling outside help during the time of giving birth seemed to be a totally alien idea to deal with. By the time of WWI, changes started to happen. Safeguarding the womens health was a major point of discussion safe-guarded in the interests of family and nation". Necessary initiatives were taken in promoting the idea of maternal welfare. More research works were carried out in maternal mortality and morbidity. A large part of Australia witnessed the introduction of antenatal care facilities. Melbourne was probably the first city where maternal clinics were formed at Alfred Women's, and Queen Victoria Hospitals (Managing occupational stress and f ear of HIV/AIDS among nurses and midwives in Namibia, 2013). According to Kobrin, "argued again and again that normal pregnancy and parturition are exceptions and that to consider them normal physiological conditions was a fallacy". These developments definitely affected the concept of child birth in a positive way and eliminated a large amount of risks that was earlier associated with the same. So far, the scenarios seem to be perfectly ideal. It would look like that the social welfare systems and institutional structures have tried to incorporate goals that aim at reducing the maternal mortality while promoting safe birth passage. But, was it really so? Many of the authors were of different opinions: Introduction of maternity institutions provided a steady supply of patients, usually working class, for physicians to practice upon and improve their skills As stated by (Nuttall, 2008), "the pauper element of society...for educational purposes would ultimately result in more finished doctors". Institutional settings were a major strategy toward gaining male control over childbirth and stamping out the occupation of independent midwifery (Nan Heo, 2007). Infant and maternal mortality did not significantly decrease with prenatal admission to hospital, indicating that introduction of such institutional structures was more likely to establish male control rather than to make therapeutic advances in medicine (Mizuno, 2011). 3. The failing of institutionalized antenatal care Personal care is what thats expected during the time of pregnancy. At least, this is what ("Midwives royal role overlooked", 2013), claims to be. But theres a thin line separating expectation from reality. Researchers have shown that institutionalized antenatal care have mostly failed to meet the expectation of the pregnant midwives. The ugliest scenarios that add to the cause include poor facilities in the clinic, different types of caregivers at every visit, and prolonged waiting time to meet the medical expert. Add to it very minimal scope to seek information through suitable question and answering sessions (Roberts, 2001). Visit to the antenatal clinic is like being in the conveyor belt; the entire experience is very dishumanising (Sheikh Beiseà Zee, 2011). Midwives Research (Stewart, Sidebotham, Davis, 2012), came up with conclusion that its absolutely impossible for a certain segment of women to enjoy resting days at home while being unmarried and financially and socially isolated with the responsibility to care for children. 4. How to fight the cause Be it physical pain, psychological problems, or social stigmas, the experiences of a pregnant women could often be some kind of substantial. Remember, the problems would widen if those who are offering support and care during these critical time are not well aware of the problems and effects. How pregnancy can affect a girls life, what consequences are awaiting, and how to take proper care during the period along with strong focus on the hygiene and safety are the points that need to be well versed with (The 25th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives, 1999). But what makes the scenario critical is little or no knowledge in the proceedings while emphasizing more on myths and ancient believes. Social stigma and painstaking moments faced by midwives and underprivileged female section of the society (especially during the time of pregnancy) is a serious point to consider. Steps need to be taken to change the way the society behaves. A liberal mindset is requir ed ("The role of the midwife in Australia: Views of women and midwives", 2009). It is not only about providing education; what matters most is offering the right kind of education along with the correct mindset to grasp them and implement the same for the right cause and empowerment to the society for both the genders. 5. Role of midwives and their contribution to the society Research work was important. It helped in understanding the exact position of the midwives in the Australian society. The research highlighted the fact that midwives are definitely in a sort of ideal position to understand the social circumstances that would influence largely the outcome of childbirth and pregnancy. According to (Towle, Rappaport, Anderson, 1962), there would be a major role to play by the midwives in achieving substantially positive perinatal outcome while ensuring better experience during the time of childbirth and pregnancy period. However, also points out the fact that the certain medical involvement would hinder the role of midwives. It might differ from one nation to another, but the skills and efforts of midwives are mostly underutilized and neglected, most commonly in areas where there seems to be decision making and assessment of the situation involved. Yes, there are and seems to be lots of varied measures taken to implicate these restrictions. But the most important part: what kind of care is available to women being in their pregnancy stage? In case of normal pregnancy (after been assessed by medical professionals), there seems to be a segregation of tasks in relation to caring for the woman (Mizuno, 2011). However, it also varies from place to place. Societies play a strong role. Robinson states that no matter what the situation is, midwives always face shortage of time as well opportunity to develop a certain kind of continuous and supportive relationship to discuss their state of condition as well the concerning problems and betterment. 6.Are the MDG strategies achievable in context to midwifery and women empowerment? If the accepted definitions need to be followed in regards to the role and position of midwives, they have an integral role to play while handling situations of childbirth and pregnancy. The role is based primarily on a holistic approach where clinical assessment, monitoring, along with suitable provisions for supportive measures and healthy advices are well integrated. If the midwives would be allowed to follow this approach as per the definition, the constraints laid upon them needs to be removed (Magill-Cuerden, 2006). In fact, it is the midwives who need to overcome these constraints. And all this can be facilitated only through research work along with some positive mindset and help from the society. Midwifery practice is something where success can be achieved only through proper research along with continuous evaluation of the informative material. It is not something that can be achieved merely through some traditional believes and custom sayings but not so well versed health professionals and society heads. It is a well-known observation that institutional structures and systems can often be subversive of the goals they were set up to meet (Cott, 1992). 7. Conclusion Leave aside what scholars and philosophers have quoted. Forget about the belief of elders. Ignore the traditions and customs of society. It is time to be rational and think positively. Acquiring knowledge is the key. Carrying out proper research and development to seek truce is what matters. Thinking logically with proper scientific explanations is important to bring improvement to the lives of pregnant women in modern-day society. Midwives should not go by the theory; they need to carry out deep research and question their inner selves while thinking logically. Remember midwives have an important role to play in the society. Their positive involvement in serving women during pregnancy and childbirth could bring about a striking positive difference to the society. References Beeman, W. Bhattacharyya, A. (1978). Instant Messaging free essay sample
Instant messaging services may also provide video calling, file sharing, PC-to-PC voice calling and PC-to-regular-phone calling. Instant messaging has promoted IP telephony because the IM software makes it easy to switch from text chat to voice chat if the user has a headset or microphone and speakers. ââ¬Å"Social networking tools such as instant messaging (IM), blogs and wikis are widely adopted in society. IM is characterized by the immediate receipt of messages, allowing effective and efficient communication between interlocutorsâ⬠(Ou Davison, 2011, p. 1). The IM Services Instant messaging (IM) became popular after Israeli-based ICQ introduced its service in 1996, which was later acquired by AOL. The major IM services are AOLs Instant Messenger (AIM), ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, Jabber and Microsofts incarnations: MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger and Windows Live Messenger. See AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, Jabber, MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger and Windows Live Messenger. Although third-party IM clients such as Trillian (www. We will write a custom essay sample on Instant Messaging or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page ceruleanstudios. com) and Simple Instant Messenger (http://sim-im. berlios. e) were designed to interface with multiple IM services, the IM clients from the IM service itself were always proprietary to that service. Google changed that practice by basing Google Talk on the open XMPP protocol used in Jabber, which is supported by the open source community (see XMPP). See IRC, chat, chat room, voice over IM and IMUnified. Advantages of Using IM at Work There are several benefits of utilizing IM tools at any workplace. The employees use of IM as a work-related contact and communication tool to ask and answer questions, share files and engage in work-related socialization. The extent to which an IM user believes that the IM tool enables interlocutors to actively control interactions and message exchange as they interact with each other, and the degree to which the communication is synchronized. The employees perception of the quality of communication in terms of being timely, adequate, accurate, complete, interactive and effective is the key role to succeed. IM promotes mutual trust among employees and management. IM tool enhances employees perceptions of group satisfaction, group outcome satisfaction, and outcome quality (Ou Davison, 2011). Disadvantages of Using IM at Workplace Work interruption resulting from IM use, and the consequent negative impact on productivity, has been considered the major barrier to company deployment of IM at work. The primary concern relates to the perceived negative consequences of interruption: on average, a worker needs eleven minutes to return to a state of concentration on an interrupted task, though the delay will depend on many other factors including the depth and duration of interruption. Other consequences of interruption include errors, stress and reduced performance. Computer users with constant on-screen interruptions from IM unrelated to ongoing work tasks may find it difficult to resume work tasks and consequently experience longer task completion times. Such distractions are generally considered a hindrance to an employee under pressure, which consequently negatively influences communication quality and productivity. Unsurprisingly, work interruptions have been generally criticized as causing deteriorations in user effectiveness and efficiency, and increasing the number of errors. More specifically, interruptions are commonly problematic due to the cognitive limitations of human beings. If the interruption is unrelated to the task at hand, yet cannot be ignored (e. g. if it comes from a respected peer or superior) the message recipient may be reluctantly forced to mentally engage with a new topic that demands focused attention if quality communication is to be achieved. The interruption initiated by unexpected instant messages can influence employees by introducing multiple tasks that force task switching and alternating attention, and thus increase the cognitive burden on an employees attention and memory. Research in cognitive psychology shows that even when the interruptive tasks are similar to those currently in hand; the requirement of switching cognitive attention from one task to another does not reduce the disruptiveness of the interruption.

Ford Motor Company essays
Ford Motor Company essays Up until he was 40 years old, Henry Ford had been acquiring valuable knowledge about business, engines, management, and most importantly cars. In 1903 he created the Ford Motor Company. Along with other investors such as John and Horace Dodge, he raised $28,000 and produced 1,700 Model A cars in the first 15 months. Over the next 5 years Ford and his engineers produced models with the letter B through S. the most successful of these was the Model N, priced at $500, and the least successful was the Model K, priced at $2500. After the Model N it became obvious that the company's success lay in inexpensive cars for a mass market. In 1908, Ford introduced the Model T, a small four-cylinder car with an attractive design and a top speed of 45mph. It's success came from it's low price, at $850, and more than 10,000 were sold in the first year alone. Along with the Ford company's success, came expansion, and in 1910 a new assembly plant was established in Highland Park, Michigan. In 1913, the demand for the Model T increased greatly and Ford introduced the assembly line, which changed our economy forever. By the end of the year, ford had established plants in Canada, Europe, Australia, South America, and Japan. At this point, the Ford Motor Company was the largest manufacturer of cars in the world. In 1918, Henry Ford unsuccessfully ran for senate, and one year later, he named his son, Edsel Ford, the president of the Ford Motor Company. As the popularity shifted from the Model T to larger, more luxurious cars, production of the Model T was stopped, and six months later the Model A was introduced. It featured such improvements as hydraulic shock absorbers, automatic windshield wipers, a gas guage, and a speedometer. About 5 million of these were sold, compared to the Model T selling 15 million. By 1937, Ford was the only major car manufacturer which had not recognized a labor union. A group of union supporters were beaten near a Ford plant ...

With more than 30,000 employees, 5,000 international retail stores, and a presence in over 70 countries, Bata is positioned to deliver an unparalleled combination of selection, quality, and service to customers around the globe. (Bata, (C) 2013) The market In a now very overcrowded market defined as a fully competitive market, because it is a heterogeneous market and has a lot of competitors, this is the situation for all Bataââ¬â¢s markets as they are very similar around the world. Bataââ¬â¢s competitors are companies such as Zara, Hamp;M and Pedro as they sell cheap products to a segment very similar to the Bataââ¬â¢s. In most of the countries where Bata is visible there are many copycats and markets with very cheap shoes. These local shops are also a competitor to keep in mind. One of the big main competitors is the Chinese low cost products that are exported from China to many other countries. The competition is very intense and can be defined as close as there are many competitors with very similar products competing for the costumerââ¬â¢s money. Project focus This project will focus on analyzing the target group and the halo segment to learn more about why the already chosen markets are attractive to Bata and which markets could be interesting later on. This is necessary to make the right choice in market segmentation and selection. We will also look into an analysis of the current market segmentation and selection including what made Bata choose the countries that they are already in. Finally we will suggest a country for Bata that could be a new lucrative market to enter, based on the earlier findings. Research methodology For this project we will use secondary data gathered from sources like newspapers, internet newspapers and the like. For the sake of the project and its reliability it is very important that the information is conducted by valid sources. It is necessary to be critical when using secondary data, as the source can be pursuing different goals with its content. To show an example; Batas website is reliable for correct information as it is important to the company and its image that stakeholders can access the right information easily. At the same time the website should also pursue to sell the companyââ¬â¢s brand which usually makes them show only the very best sides of the company. This makes some of the information partly unreliable or at least questionable. To overcome this problem we will be aware of the sources intensions and reliability. If the source is unknown to us or the information does not fit with other information we have, we will research this to make sure we end up with the right information to base a project on. We will always look at the opportunity to find the same data from other sources to back up its reliability. Primary data would be highly valuable to us in this project ââ¬â and a credible and reliable source to us as the projects main topic is to analyze the companyââ¬â¢s market segmentation. Interviewing the company would truly bring us inside the company and data the employees go through prior to screening and selecting markets. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to get in contact with Bata. Had the time and size of this project allowed us to, it would also be possible to conduct a questionnaire from consumers in the companys stores asking why they chose Bata over its competitors. Analysis of target group The markets Bata has entered (Bata, (C) 2013) shows a market segmentation that mainly sells shoes in countries with a large segment of costumers with lower purchasing power; the middle class and lower middle class of the society. It is presumable that this makes the consumer use high involvement when purchasing these products. When this segment is satisfied with the purchase it usually will stay loyal to the brand as the segment consider for a longer time before spending money; as loyal as consumers can be these days. It is noticeable that Bata is not visible in North America, Scandinavia and UK which is another argument for theory above (Bata, (C) 2013). This method of segmenting has a great likelihood of fighting against grey markets/parallel import which is highly likely to happen between markets with segments with low purchasing power. Due to the changing markets the competition started undercutting their prices and Bata tried pursuing a new segment; the higher premium society. Bata tried and failed. When a brand focusing on a (lower) middle class segments wants to change their focus ââ¬â or add focus to a higher society it very often fails. This is very likely to be because the perceived brand value is lower ââ¬â often created by the price of the products. This kind of change usually just work when an expensive brand changes the target group to a lower society class, which makes the price drop. Then in the beginning the sales will boost because the consumers still perceive the same value of the brand but at a lower price ââ¬â the benefit (or value) exceeds the cost of the product (to state a very basic example: it is like exchanging one Malaysian ringgit and getting one Malaysian ringgit and fifty cents back. ). That only lasts for a while until the perceived value has dropped to the same level as the actual buying price. If Bata wants to include a higher premium brand they need to create another brand as to not affect the already known products and the new premium ones. Back to the original segments; middle Class families were being offered footwear by Bata as they had shoes ranges forà school going children, young men, and even some offerings for women. In terms of the behavioral aspects Bataââ¬â¢s target customers could be quite price sensitive, demanding value for money, looking for basic needs to be met, and not very conscious about the shoe lasting for a long time, yet at the same time demanding adequate quality footwear which is trustworthy to last for a while. Bata may also be categorized as a store where usually entire families visit together because of the various offerings that Bata has to offer to them. The following products are Bataââ¬â¢s main products and the segment they focuses on, to clearly specify what usually is in Bataââ¬â¢s markets around the world. Bubblegummers The Bubblegummers brand serves the children segment, in the age about 0-13 years. It has provided a variety of design and type of shoes the segment. Marie Claire The Marie Clare brand is for women. Bata is trying to target the young working women who wants reasonably priced, decent design and durable shoes for work and this brand in many cases serves its segment well. Sandak Sandak is a sponge sandal that mainly serves a women segment who wants very good quality sandals in different types. It is mainly used in rainy seasons when many prefer it because it is washable and decent in looks. Power This is reasonable priced good quality sports and sandal shoes for young males and females. The target segment of Power is teenagers and some parts of the elderly people who need sneakers for walking purpose. KingsStreet The most famous dress shoes from Bata. Targeted towards the family or working man who needs nicer looking shoes for work or special occasions. Weinbrenner This brand of Bata provides trendy, outdoor, rough use footwear for men. This is also a popular brand with the youth. Though the brand is not that cheap but the quality of it is very good. Bata has other products too and many products special to the individual markets. To include all these products would require a much bigger project and more time than given.

Hellenistic Art Personal Statement Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Hellenistic Art - Personal Statement Example Each of these generals co-opted the art of the time to display the unique influences that their particular kingdoms engendered. However, the unifying mark that united these differing pieces is the gigantism and baroque nature that the art oftentimes entails. However, this was taken to such an unbelievable extreme that the art lost a great deal of its appeal and became overtly tacky. As a result, gone was the era of the muted and reserved art forms of the classical era. As previously stated, the art form of the Hellenistic period was anything but restrained. Rather than showing the ideals of human and godly actions/virtues, Hellenistic art focused on the very extreme. As such the art oftentimes showed individuals in the throes of mortal combat, characters prostrating themselves in various poses, defeated warriors downing poison, men overcome by fear, the loss of honor in death, and many other such expressive/explosive emotions. In this way details such as the forcefulness of the action or circumstances and the violence of the movements associated with these are amplified. Interestingly, although the same can be said for the mosaics other art forms, the pottery and other earthen rare remained largely unchanged and muted. One could reasonably expect that this was the result of the fact that the artists were attempting to extol the highest degrees of grandeur in the public displays of Hellenistic art; whereas the more muted domestic settings required art forms that did not necessarily need to be so bold and overbearing.
